Trekking
My trekking journey started in 2025 when I completed the Tour du Mont Blanc solo in 8 days. While I stayed at refuges and hotels and only had to carry about 8 kgs, I knew this was something I wanted to take seriously. With this new found determination, in the summer of 2026 I decided to trek once again. But properly this time. I ended up trekking from Lescun to Bielsa through 150 kilometres of the High Pyrenees. However, this time I spent my nights mostly bivouacking with the occasional campsite and refuge.
Haute Randonnée Pyrénéenne

As aforementioned I trekked from Lescun to Bielsa. I was mostly on the HRP (Haute Randonnée Pyrénéennee) trail. While this is not the full length HRP trail from coast to coast. It is the section that traverses some of the highest terrain in both Spain and France. My trek l was roughly 150 kilometres and with about 10,000 metres of elevation gain. On paper you could say it is easier than the Tour du Mont Blanc but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Tour du Mont Blanc

This was my introduction to trekking. Located on the border of 3 countries – France, Italy, and Switzerland, the Mont Blanc Massif is truly magnificent. As the name suggests the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) circumnavigates this massif starting and ending in Les Houches / Chamonix. The trail is about 170 kilometres long and the average person takes about 11 days. However, there are plenty of trail variants, different accommodations and other factors that can make each trip unique. It took me 8 days to complete the 170km with 11,000 metres of elevation gain. That being said I had some drama along the way and went “off piste”.
